You can watch every documentary about the Galapagos and still not know what it is like to have a sea lion glide past your mask. There is no substitute for the taste of thick Colombian hot chocolate with cheese melted into it, a just-cut palmito salad in Ecuador, or a conversation in imperfect Spanish that somehow works. Those moments only happen in person, and they are what we build holidays around.

We believe travel done well leaves you more curious and more open than it found you, and that the money you spend should end up with the people who make the place what it is. It is why we work with locally owned hotels, guides and operators wherever we can.

No two of our holidays are the same, because no two travellers want the same things. Some people come to us for the food, some for the wildlife, some to finally stand somewhere they have read about for years. Whatever is on your list, that is where we start. We listen first, then shape the route, the pace and the places to stay around it.

We are a small team by choice, taking on a limited number of holidays so each one gets designed from scratch - for couples, for families, for friends travelling together - at the pace you actually want to keep.

A trip across two or three Latin American countries has a lot of moving parts: internal flights, transfers, hotels, timings, paperwork that changes at every border. We stay in constant contact with our local teams in every destination we sell, so the advice you get is current and the route holds up on the ground. If something shifts while you are planning or travelling, we hear about it early and sort it before it reaches you. Your side of the job is the fun part: deciding what you want to see, taste and do.

We started out taking small groups to two places that do not make anything easy: Cuba and the Galapagos Islands. Look closely at our logo and you can see where we come from - a Galapagos tortoise, carrying the sun as its shell. That view at the top of this page? We have climbed to it ourselves, and dived the water below it with penguins, seal pups and the odd shark. Travellers kept asking us for more, so year by year we added new routes across Latin America, each one tailor-made for the couples and families trusting us with their time off.

Travelfab is a London-based, ATOL-protected (10898) tour operator founded in 2014, specialising in tailor-made multi-centre holidays across Latin America, including Mexico, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, Costa Rica, Panama and the Galapagos. When you get in touch you talk to Fabian, Diego, Carol or Carlos - the people who actually design the trips. Behind us is a network of local partners we vet ourselves - licences, insurance, people - and stay in close touch with. That is how your itinerary stays accurate to the season, and how someone who knows your trip inside out is always within reach while you are away.

We design it around you. Your specialist draws up a route by hand, checks every piece with our local teams, and refines it with you until it feels right. No pressure, and no obligation until you are happy.
