The Mexico honeymoon for couples who want story before sand. Begin in Mexico City at Las Alcobas in Polanco — three nights of contemporary Mexican cuisine, the Frida Kahlo Blue House at sunset and rooftop cocktails over Chapultepec. Continue to San Miguel de Allende — the UNESCO colonial-highland town where Rosewood San Miguel sits behind 18th-century pink stone walls, its rooftop Luna bar one of Mexico's celebrated sunset terraces. Finish with six nights at Belmond Maroma on the Riviera Maya — recently re-launched after a full Belmond rebuild, with Mayan-inspired architecture and a private 600m beach.

Direct BA or AeroMexico flights LHR–MEX (around 11 hours), private transfers throughout, two short internal flights connecting the chapters. Tequila-tasting in Mexico City, rooftop sunsets in San Miguel, cenote swims and Maya ruins from Maroma.

OUR APPROACH

Why This Honeymoon

  • Culture first, beach second — three nights in Polanco Mexico City + three nights in San Miguel de Allende front-load the trip with the cuisine and culture honeymoon couples remember. Six nights at Maroma finish on the sand

  • Three Travelfab-anchored hotels — Las Alcobas (Marriott Luxury Collection) + Rosewood San Miguel de Allende + Belmond Maroma. All confirmed at the headline price

  • Two Mexicos, no compromise — TUI/Jet2 sell Cancún resorts; Audley/Scott Dunn sell colonial circuits. This itinerary packages both, with the rebuilt Belmond Maroma as the beach finale

  • Adults-led atmosphere throughout — Polanco Mexico City and Rosewood San Miguel are both inherently adult-oriented, and Belmond Maroma's post-refurbishment positioning has skewed sharply towards couples

  • Direct flights from London — British Airways LHR–MEX (with the daily AeroMexico alternative). 11 hours direct, no overnight in Houston / Miami / Madrid

  • ATOL 10898 — one booking, one operator, one set of accountability across both Mexicos

DAY BY DAY

Your Twelve Nights

Day 1: London → Mexico City — Las Alcobas

Direct flight from London Heathrow to Mexico City with British Airways or AeroMexico (around 11 hours, daytime arrival). Your private driver meets you at MEX and transfers you to Las Alcobas in Polanco — a 35-room boutique hotel on Avenida Presidente Masaryk, Mexico City's most elegant address. Welcome Champagne in your Premier King room, dinner at Anatol downstairs, early night to recover.

Day 2: Mexico City — Centro Histórico private tour

Morning private tour with a specialist guide. The Zócalo, the Metropolitan Cathedral, Templo Mayor (the Aztec ruins beneath the modern city), Palacio Nacional with the Diego Rivera murals. Lunch at Café de Tacuba. Afternoon free for the Museo Nacional de Antropología or simply for a Polanco siesta. Dinner at Pujol or Quintonil (we hold a quiet table for you).

Day 3: Coyoacán & Frida Kahlo — Xochimilco trajineras

Private morning to Coyoacán — the Frida Kahlo Blue House Museum (pre-booked tickets), the cobbled plazas, lunch at Los Danzantes. Afternoon at Xochimilco aboard a private trajinera (Mexican gondola) through the canals — mariachi optional, cold cervezas obligatory. Return to Las Alcobas for the evening.

Day 4: Mexico City → San Miguel de Allende — Rosewood

After breakfast, fly Mexico City to Bajío Airport (BJX, 45 minutes, AeroMexico) and transfer 1.5 hours to San Miguel de Allende. Check in to a Rosewood Casita with private terrace and views over the rooftops to the Parroquia de San Miguel Arcángel — the pink stone neo-Gothic landmark of the town. Sunset cocktails at the Luna rooftop bar.

Day 5: San Miguel — private walking tour & art

Morning private walking tour. The Parroquia and its plaza, the Casa de Allende museum, El Charco del Ingenio botanical reserve, the Fábrica La Aurora (a converted textile mill now housing 40+ artist studios). Lunch at Áperi or Aldea. Afternoon at leisure — galleries, tequila tastings, or a session at Sense, A Rosewood Spa.

Day 6: San Miguel — Atotonilco & vineyards

Half-day private excursion to the Sanctuary of Atotonilco — the UNESCO Mexican Sistine Chapel with 18th-century frescoes — and on to a Guanajuato wine estate for tasting and lunch. Return to Rosewood for the afternoon. Tonight a private candle-lit rooftop dinner is held for you at Luna, included as part of the honeymoon package.

Day 7: San Miguel → Cancún → Belmond Maroma

Late checkout from Rosewood. Transfer to BJX for your flight via Mexico City to Cancún (2 hours, AeroMexico). On arrival in Cancún, your Mexican representative meets you and transfers you 45 minutes south to Belmond Maroma. Welcome Champagne in your Beachfront Cabana, dinner at Casa Mayor — Maroma's open-air restaurant — under the stars.

Day 8: Maroma — settle in

A full Maroma day. The property is built around three palapa-roofed buildings on a 600m private white-sand beach, recently rebuilt by Belmond with Mayan-inspired arches and walled courtyards. Breakfast at Casa Mayor, swim in the warm Caribbean, lunch at Woodend on the beach. Afternoon at the spa for a couples' Temazcal ceremony — the traditional Mayan steam ritual, with a Maya healer.

Day 9: Tulum & cenote day

Private guided day. Morning at Tulum's clifftop Maya ruins above the Caribbean (an hour from Maroma). Lunch at one of the Tulum beach restaurants. Afternoon at a private cenote (typically Gran Cenote or Dos Ojos) for swimming and snorkelling in crystal-clear freshwater. Return to Maroma in the late afternoon.

Day 10: Maroma at leisure

A free day. Recommended: a morning Maroma yoga class on the beach, an afternoon at the spa for a second couples' treatment, or simply a long beach day. We hold a private candle-lit beach dinner for you on Day 11; today is for slow living.

Day 11: Chichén Itzá or Sian Ka'an

Two contrasting routes. Cultural option: private full-day to Chichén Itzá — the great Maya pyramid of Kukulkán, the Sacred Cenote, the Observatory. About 2 hours each way. Wildlife option: private guided day to the Sian Ka'an Biosphere Reserve, boat through the lagoons and snorkel the offshore reef. Both fascinating; we recommend the active couple takes Sian Ka'an. Private candle-lit beach dinner at Maroma tonight, included.

Day 12: Maroma at leisure

A final beach day. Late breakfast at Casa Mayor, swim, lunch at Woodend, an afternoon at the Mayakan spa or a beach reading session. Sunset cocktails at the bar — Caribbean sunsets are at their most photogenic from Maroma's palapas.

Day 13: Cancún → London

Late morning checkout from Maroma. Your private driver transfers you 45 minutes north to Cancún International Airport for your direct British Airways or AeroMexico flight back to London Heathrow (around 9 hours). Arrive home the following day.

A crystal-clear turquoise cenote with two snorkelers, surrounded by a rocky cave and lush green foliage.

What our customers say

From travellers who visited Mexico with us

The Colonial Treasures tour was outstanding. Guanajuato completely stole our hearts — the coloured houses climbing up the hillside, the underground streets, and the mariachi bands in Jardín de la Unión every evening. The tequila tasting in Jalisco was a real highlight too. Fabian arranged everything perfectly, including a private guide for the Teotihuacán pyramids on our last day in Mexico City. We came home already planning our next trip.

Colonial Treasures & the Secrets of the Tequila

Mexico completely exceeded our expectations. The Mayan ruins at Chichén Itzá were breathtaking, the cenotes magical, and the food absolutely incredible. Travelfab planned every detail perfectly.

Sarah & James T.

Our 12-day Mexico tour was the trip of a lifetime. From Mexico City to the Pacific coast, every day brought something new and wonderful. The local guides were outstanding.
