Day 1London to Buenos Aires
An evening flight from London. You sleep on the plane and land in Buenos Aires the next morning.
Day 2Buenos Aires
Your guide meets you at Ezeiza airport and takes you to the hotel. The rest of the day is yours to rest after the long flight.
Day 3Buenos Aires city tour
A half-day tour of the city: Avenida 9 de Julio and the Obelisk, the Colón Theatre, Avenida de Mayo, Plaza de Mayo and the Casa Rosada, and the painted houses of La Boca. The afternoon is free. If you would like a dinner and tango show in the evening, ask us and we will add it.
Day 4Fly to Salta
A morning flight to Salta. In the afternoon, a tour of the colonial centre: Plaza 9 de Julio with the cathedral and the old Cabildo, the church of San Francisco and the craft market, then up Cerro San Bernardo for the view over the city and out to San Lorenzo at the edge of the cloud forest.
Day 5The Quebrada de Humahuaca
An early start north into the Quebrada de Humahuaca, a valley used as a trade route for thousands of years and now a UNESCO World Heritage site. You stop at Purmamarca under the Hill of Seven Colours, climb to the Pucará of Tilcara, a hilltop fortress built before the Incas came, and reach Humahuaca, at almost 3,000 metres, before the drive back to Salta. A long day, and one of the best on the trip.
Day 6Cafayate and its wine
South through the Quebrada de las Conchas, where wind and water have carved the red rock into shapes with names like the Amphitheatre and the Devil's Throat. Cafayate is a quiet colonial town in the vineyards, and you visit a winery to taste Torrontés, the dry white wine the valley is known for. Lunch is included today.
Day 7Fly to Buenos Aires and the Tigre delta
The flight back to Buenos Aires, then out through the leafy northern suburbs and San Isidro to Tigre. An hour by boat through the channels of the Paraná delta, past houses on stilts and islands you can only reach by water. The boat is shared, with an English-speaking guide on board.
Day 8Buenos Aires to London
Transfer to Ezeiza for the overnight flight home, landing in London the next day.

Visit the magnificent Iguazú Falls. Buenos Aires and its tango. Colonial Salta and its red canyons. The Malbec wineries of Mendoza. From El Calafate, stand face to face with the Perito Moreno glacier, and listen for the ice as it cracks and falls into the lake. Or pull on your boots, and walk through Patagonia beneath the granite towers of Fitz Roy. The north is a different Argentina. From colonial Salta, drive up the Quebrada de Humahuaca, past the Hill of Seven Colours, to Andean villages high in the mountains. Then follow the red rock canyons south to Cafayate, where the bodegas make Torrontés, the local white wine. And just across the River Plate, Uruguay is one short ferry ride away. Stroll the cobbled streets of Colonia del Sacramento, then carry on to Montevideo, with its grand Independence Square, the long riverside Rambla, and the stadium built for the very first World Cup. Iguazú is genuinely one of the most spectacular things I've seen. My only minor note is that internal flights can be a bit unpredictable timing-wise, but Fabian had built buffer days into the plan which was smart.

Buenos Aires had us hooked from the first evening, the tango show in San Telmo, steak at a proper parrilla in Palermo, and wandering the colourful streets of La Boca. Then Patagonia was on another level entirely. Standing at the edge of Perito Moreno glacier watching house-sized chunks of ice calving off is something I'll never forget.
