Then follow the red rock canyons south to Cafayate, where the bodegas make Torrontés, the local white wine. And just across the River Plate, Uruguay is one short ferry ride away. Stroll the cobbled streets of Colonia del Sacramento, then carry on to Montevideo, with its grand Independence Square, the long riverside Rambla, and the stadium built for the very first World Cup.
