Your Itinerary
Day 1: London to Buenos Aires
An evening flight from London. You sleep on the plane and land in Buenos Aires the next morning.
Day 2: Buenos Aires
Your guide meets you at Ezeiza airport and takes you to the hotel. The rest of the day is yours to rest after the long flight.
Day 3: Buenos Aires city tour
A half-day tour of the city: Avenida 9 de Julio and the Obelisk, the Colón Theatre, Avenida de Mayo, Plaza de Mayo and the Casa Rosada, and the painted houses of La Boca. The afternoon is free. If you would like a dinner and tango show in the evening, ask us and we will add it.
Day 4: Fly to Iguazú, the Brazilian side of the falls
A morning flight to Puerto Iguazú, then across the border into Brazil for the first look at the falls. The Brazilian side gives you the wide view: a path along the gorge with the whole curtain of water in front of you, ending on a walkway close to the Devil's Throat. Look out for coatis and butterflies on the way.
Day 5: Iguazú, the Argentine side
Back into the national park on the Argentine side, where the walkways take you over and under the falls. A small train runs to the start of the path out to the Devil's Throat, and the upper and lower circuits look across to San Martín island. If you would like to get wet, ask us about the boat ride into the spray.
Day 6: Fly south to Ushuaia
A long travel day, from the subtropical north to Tierra del Fuego at the bottom of the continent. Your guide meets you in Ushuaia and the rest of the day is free.
Day 7: The Beagle Channel
A boat trip of about two and a half hours on the Beagle Channel, past the sea lions of Isla de los Lobos, the cormorants of Isla de los Pájaros and the red and white Les Eclaireurs lighthouse. The boat is shared, with an English-speaking guide on board. The afternoon is free, or ask us about a trip into Tierra del Fuego National Park.
Day 8: Fly to El Calafate
A short flight north to El Calafate, on the shore of Lago Argentino. The rest of the day is yours. If you would like an evening at a working estancia, with sheep shearing, the gauchos and a Patagonian lamb dinner, ask us and we will add it.
Day 9: The Perito Moreno glacier
Into Los Glaciares National Park to the Perito Moreno glacier. The walkways face the ice wall across a narrow channel of the lake, close enough to hear it crack and watch pieces fall into the water. A boat to the foot of the ice is an optional extra in the afternoon.
Day 10: Fly back to Buenos Aires
The flight back to Buenos Aires, with the rest of the day free in the city.
Day 11: Ferry to Colonia del Sacramento and Montevideo
An early ferry across the River Plate to Colonia del Sacramento in Uruguay, about an hour and a quarter. Your guide meets you on arrival and walks you through the old town, a UNESCO World Heritage site of cobbled lanes, low colonial houses, the old walls and the lighthouse. In the afternoon you continue by road to Montevideo.
Day 12: Montevideo, then back to Buenos Aires
A morning tour of Montevideo: Plaza Independencia and the old citadel gate, the mausoleum of José Artigas, the Solís Theatre, the Legislative Palace and the old houses of El Prado. In the evening, the ferry back to Buenos Aires, arriving at about ten at night.
Day 13: Buenos Aires to London
Transfer to Ezeiza for the overnight flight home, landing in London the next day.

Yes. It is a set departure with a small group, so travelling alone does not mean paying private-trip prices. The date runs once at least two travellers are booked, and we will tell you where it stands when you enquire. If you would rather not share a room, the single supplement is around GBP 530 for the trip.

Iguazú is genuinely one of the most spectacular things I've seen. My only minor note is that internal flights can be a bit unpredictable timing-wise, but Fabian had built buffer days into the plan which was smart.

Then Patagonia was on another level entirely. Standing at the edge of Perito Moreno glacier watching house-sized chunks of ice calving off is something I'll never forget.
