The Lost World Expedition — an 11-day adventure to the summit of one of the oldest mountains on earth.
FCDO Travel Advisory: The UK Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office currently advises against all but essential travel to Venezuela. This expedition is being prepared for when the advisory is lifted. Register your interest below to be notified as soon as bookings open.
Mount Roraima (2,810m) is one of the oldest geological formations on earth — a tepui (table-top mountain) whose summit plateau has been isolated from the surrounding lowlands for millions of years. The result is a surreal landscape of eroded rock towers, crystal-clear pools, carnivorous plants, and species found nowhere else on the planet. It was this extraordinary summit that inspired Arthur Conan Doyle to write The Lost World in 1912, and the reality is every bit as otherworldly as the fiction.
This 11-day expedition combines a half-day Caracas city tour with a 6-day guided trek across the Gran Sabana’s rolling grasslands and up to the cloud-wrapped summit of Roraima. It is a challenging but non-technical trek suitable for fit hikers with some multi-day trekking experience. All camping equipment, meals and guides are included.
